Now there are many forms of advertising for businesses today.
Our main focus in this post is to talk about one of the most effective forms of advertising that we have found to be true. This is word-of-mouth advertising.
Hopefully as a business owner you are honest and do the very best work that you can. Oh sure, there are going to be times when you just don't have a solution for a particular situation, but this is when you forge ahead and find the solution or seek counsel from others on workable solutions. (Remember the more you learn, the more you learn you don't know...).
The ability and discipline to be persistently consistent is rather good for business. If a client knows from others (whom referred you) that you are fair, honest and diligent in your work, well...this is a very effective means of retaining your clients. It's not too difficult to obtain clients or a mere project, but if you company is unable for a variety of reasons to satisfy the client, the client will only utilize your services one time, and one time only. If they are not satisfied, then you can bet that $1 that you won't be receiving any referrals from them in the future.
It pays in business (literally) to be up front about your services, your prices, perhaps any limitations you may have in performing the job (if applicable) and allowing the client to decide if your business is able to assist them.
On a perhaps more serious note, it pays to be fair....period.
It applies in your personal life with your family and friends and it should apply in your professional life as well.
Although you don't hear this much from professionals, the same applies here. You reap what you sow. If you sow dishonestly into your business and into your clients, you can bet that you will reap in the return, and that my friends is "not good business".
With that said...in your profession it pays you literally to "do good business" and that will be one of your most effective means of advertising.
